Yesterday when i was fishing the wednesday tourn at Tunis i must have lost atleast ten fish on the Yum money minnow swimbait....how the heck do you set the hook on them with that thing. I tried quick setting it. I tried letting them take it. Nothing!
It has to be hooked all the way thru and then run back and barely under the "skin" to get a hookset on them.
I've been using the twist sideways method (turn your body and sweep the rod sideways) like you use for crankbaits or dropshot. Seems to work pretty good. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

I'll have to try that one as it would be more natural seeing as I fish cranks alot.
You might want to look at the rod as well. You will want it to give some to allow the fish to take the bait. Line could be a factor too.
Might not be bass or it might be very small ones! I caught two speckles/crappie on senko type baits while I was up there last week! I think some white perch were terrorizing me at times also! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif

You want to make sure you are using Gamakatzu hooks also.
7ft plus rod and braid helps. Usually long cast so this application will help.
