this is not a real engine question but some what related to the engine . the trim gauge on my new boat does not work and the dealer is 200 miles . on the volt tester i have juice at the wire connected to the gauge when the motor is trimmed down . do you think i have a bad gauge or just have something wired wrong ?
You have 12 volts or battery voltage at the terminals on the back of the guage?
Does the guage do any thing?
Is it stuck full up or full down?
Elgin when the key is turned on the the gauge hand drops to the bottom ( full down )and when i turn the key off the hand goes back to the top . not sure how much power i got at the gauge my buddy was doing the tester while i pushed on the trim trigger on the motor . he said there was current . work is killing me here lately havent had time to look into anymore than that . sorry for the lack of details . thanks for any ideas you may have . keith
not sure what motor you have but I recently solved my trim gauge issue. there was a little spring loaded lever under the motor on the transom and it was stuck. sprayed some wd40 on it, worked it manually for a few minutes and the gauge started reading motion.
