For the VA Beach, Norfolk, Smithfield, Suffolk and surrounding area people...
We have a friend and client that is from the Lynchburg area that is a Asphalt Paving Contractor looking for work. He is loading up all of his equipment and is heading to the eastern shore looking for work because the asphalt plant here is shut down due to the cold weather and he knows of a plant down your way that is still operating. He is struggling to survive in this economy and then the weather on top of it. He does excellent work is very reputable and I highly recommend him. He is sitting in our office as we speak making sure his Insurance is in order so that he knows he is covered before he goes to VA Beach area. He has told me that if anyone has ever considered having their driveway paved or repaired that he will give the best prices he has ever given. Again this guy does great work and he is just struggling to survive and looking for work anywhere he can find. If you have ever considered having asphalt work done give him a call he will down your way weather permitting starting 01/11/2010 and will most likely be available till late February or early March.

I have met John, and from my understanding he moved here from the Chesapeake area. Good guy, sorry to hear about the lack of work, the private sector has been very slow around here. Good luck.

I do asphalt work for the BIGGEST company on the east coast and things have really slowed down for us! you may try the richmond area ....our plant up there keeps really busy and the work keeps coming for them.
good luck with the decision you make EASTERN SHORE could be really slow
