Question about VA/Kerr Lake Regulations
I live in NC. I fish Kerr regularly with my Bass boat, and with a jon boat. I know I am required to have a fire extinguisher on the bass boat. Am i required to on the jon boat? The NC game warden has never cited me for it, nor even mentioned having one. The boat does NOT have a gas motor. However, at long wood ramp I was given a warning ticket on my jon boat for not having a fire extinguisher, is this a requirement in VA? And if so, I thought the lake regulations where the same as a fishing license, you know I only need a NC fishing licesnse, so I should only have to meet NC game regulations? If someone could clear this up, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Re: Question about VA/Kerr Lake Regulations (datilus)
Aren't the regulations on Kerr based on Coast Guard rules not either state since it is a Federal corp of engineers owned reservoir. Not sure what those say about it.
Re: Question about VA/Kerr Lake Regulations (vafishing)
I believe Jeff is right it goes by the cost guard rules. Whether you are on the NC side or Va side. As far as Virginia rules any boat over the length of 15ft is required to have one or at least that's what i remember it being
Re: Question about VA/Kerr Lake Regulations (Varinabassin)
It's a 14' aluminum jon boat with a 40lb thrust in the back and 55 on the front. I searched through the coast guard regulations and it appears that any vessel that mechanical propelltion, regardless of length is suppose to have one. Could have sworn it was gas propelltion. Oh well, off to walmart i guess http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
