Re: trailer tire help (mcherry)
Hey Mike, I have many miles on my goodyears and no issues, just a heads up, 50 psi is the magic number on the GY's.

I have had good success w/ Carlisle Radials. I got mine from Riveria Tire down here in Poplar Branch, NC but you should be able to pick them up from most tire stores.
Re: trailer tire help (sprint_lover)
I guess I shouldn't really bash them to bad, but you kknow what happens when you have a bad experience with any product. In all fairness I did buy the boat used. So with that said, goodyear is back on the list.
Re: trailer tire help (currituckbasser)
My first Triton had Marathons on it and six years later when I sold it they still looked and rode fine. My current Triton has Marathons also which is three years old today and no issues to date. They are pricey but worth it to me.
When I was in the auto business we sold alot of Maxxis radial trailer tires to farmers and fisherman. My hunting buddy put a set on his trailer over three years ago and is still running them today. They have a good price as well.

Re: trailer tire help (PATRO)
I ran the marathons on my nitro and on the stratos now. I did have one come apart on me (radial belts seperated) but that's the only problem I've had.
The cheapest I found them was WalMart online. You can go to Walmart.com and order them online to be delivered to you closest store with no delivery/shipping charge. You can pick them up at the store, or have them mounted there if you want (for an additional fee of course)

I've been hearing Walmart won't do trailer tires anymore...might want to ask first.
Re: trailer tire help (TRCM)
I just looked at walmart and didn't see anything about a trailer tire there.
Re: trailer tire help (mcherry)
The Indy tire holds up great!
Re: trailer tire help (BassCatnVa)
Mike, my boat came with GY Marathons. They looked a littlw worn when I bought the boat and had planned on replacing them. Last summer one of them seperated as I was parking it in the barn (good timing). I opted to try the Carlisle Radials and have good luck so far.

Pulled them up the first try:

Re: trailer tire help (Big Johnson)
When I ran Basscats, I had Firestone Indy tires...without a doubt, the best trailer/tire combo Ive ever owned. Basscat goes against popular opinion that you shouldnt use a passenger tire on a boat trailer...IT WORKS!
Theres a problem with Goodyear Marathons Mike...the sidewalls dont hold up to a box knife wielding Gates County redneck! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif

SHOWOFF http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif ..I did a search for 205/70/14.. Thats why it didn't show up I guess.
Rob, it amazes me that everyone says don't put those Indy car tires on your boat. Well IMHO(since you asked) If BCB will put them on 50K brand new boat(s) just built from the factory, then I thought that the Indy would be damn good enough for me and my 95 model..That said, I will prolly go with the Indy tire, plus the goodyears are not knife proof. Funny thing someone said 50psi is the right number. Rob saw me at the air pump the week before I blew one out. could of been a slow leak, old valve stem..But I think I made my mind up though. Thanks to everyone that chimed in on this.
Re: trailer tire help (mcherry)
Mike, Ive watched Basscat build a trailer at the factory. It could be that they just do a much better job building a trailer than say Custom Line, Ranger Trail, Boatmate, etc.
I havent replaced my 2 cut Marathons yet and Im seriously considering going back to Firestones...
Re: trailer tire help (RobShaw1)
Do you remember exactly which one I need to get, if not then I will call BCB and talk to Scott. Thanks buddy
Re: trailer tire help (mcherry)
I know theyre 15" but I dont remember the exact size. Scott Estes will hook you up. Be sure and tell him the year of your boat and trailer though...I dont remember when they switched from 14" to 15". There could be a fender clearance issue.

Re: trailer tire help (mcherry)
Just got off the phone with Scott at BCB, told me to get the Cooper Cobra G/T.
Rob, Scott told me to tell you hello.
Call GEX off merc. blvd, said they would get the tires by thursday and it would only be 99.00+tax installed. The Goodyears were what like 110 or so. I think I will be happy with this choice. One thing is for sure, if it goes wrong I will be the first to beotch about it.
Re: trailer tire help (mcherry)
GEX, I could almost spit on that place from here.....their real close
Re: trailer tire help (TRCM)
Thats funny. My mom lives around the corner from there on Custard ct. and no there is no ice cream for you guys there http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif Man you should call me. We could have a cold beverage and BS.
