Two things......

One: I noticed alot of power poles on the backs of bass boats in the classic photo gallery. What application would a river present for using power poles? I saw today crossing Lake Gaston where it might be useful way up the lake but for our use what are the thoughts?

Two: If you go to Tennesse anytime soon my parents traveled with me today to Nashville to p/u my rig tomorrow and we went through NC to get here and made it to Nashville in 10.5 hours. Road seemed a bit less hilly other than crossing Black Mountain and the drive was a breeze. Now understand this wasnt the normal trip as we made a few more stops than normal. My time line would have the trip at 9.40 mins without the delay and 676 miles. Not sure if its faster than the old 81 run but AAA routed it. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

They are using there own boats and why take them off the next TX they will be using them....

Well i figured they were not using them fishing 35 to 40 foot deep......I can see where they would be handy fishing bedding fish in the grass flats down south but was just wondering if anybody had ever thought to use them up where we live considering how some of us fish.....

Fishing Addict and I were just talking about this today. On these tidal rivers I would think they would be great if you were trying to fish a laydown or something and you could peg the boat in place so you did not have to worry about the drift from the current.

I picked my boat up from Triton in March and drove the 81 route there and back I took 40 and all thru NC and the NC route was faster even when towing a boat back !!

I sat down near the front at the Classic and got a pretty good look at the boats. A LOT of pros are running those power poles. Some guys had dual poles on either side of the outboard. Ive been to a dozen or so Classics and this one was by fat the most crowded Ive ever seen. Really good show! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

I think the power poles might be good for around here, like Jeff said, but with the current in most of the rivers I think you might have to go to the dual pole set-up to keep the boat from pivoting around the one pole. Or either drop the pole up-current from the piece of cover your fishing b/c I would imagine the current would eventually spin the boat.
