2005 nitro series 150 xr6 info ?

Cowell says Nitro Series XR6 150. I thought XR6s
were FI.Shying away from carb engine. Would be a project engine ( hole in block ). Price is right I think for a complete engine including lower unit. These things non ECM ? Would eventually go on
a 99 Ranger 461VS. Was.looking for FI engine, anybody have experience with these ? Should J move on ? Reason I question now is some research says these are solid motors, worth having. Looking for something newer to swap out 94 150 XRI EFI presently on boat.

If you're looking for a project that's fuel injected... I've got a couple out here on the east coast.

I love my xr6 it is a strong and fast engine with a lot of spare parts available yet.

It does suck to start on cold mornings and it guzzles gas. There is certainly a learning curve when it comes to starting it on a cold start, and there are well documented procedures on this forum for that.

Being that it is a stator charged engine, you are not supposed to run agm or lithium batteries as cranking batteries, only lead acid batteries. The list of applicable batteries with the appropriate cranking amps is getting fewer and fewer over the years. I had to buy a separate electronics only battery to prevent draw down on the cranking battery to reduce issues starting late in the day.

I have one here (200hp) in very very good condition id sell from a repower. I bet it has less than 100hrs on it
