That’s a terrible accident. Some of the videos show men hanging from the broken rigging. Very tragic. It is/was a beautiful ship as well.
What's strange is that tug did nothing unless he couldn't catch up.

Has anyone said why a Mexican navy vessel was all the way up in NY?
Tall ships from all over the world travel around for various festivals, races, etc. For example, I was aboard the Coast Guard cutter Hamilton back in 2018 when we visited Cartegena Colombia for the Sail Cartegena de Indias 2018 which is one such festival where tall ships from around the world gathered for the festival there.
Wasn't that ship heading to Greenland or Iceland after leaving NY?
