Your transducer will last longer. Transmitting out of the water is not recommended.

Nope!
Never have and probably wont start. I turn mine on when I get to the lake and turn it off when I pull the boat out of the water.

Mine has over-heated once in 6 or 7 years however long since it came out, while left on and stowed while graphing in 100 degree weather.
I do not sleep mine for runs, graphing a while Ill go sleep it.
I don't do anything special.
I've never shut it off while running down the lake in the 2 years I've owned it, nor do any of my friends with it on their boats. No issues, it does have built in protection in the event of an overheat
I disable my transducer everytime.
Necessary? I don't know. But.... I always do. That feature is available to use so I use it.
Absolutely no reason to do it. That's ridiculous. Probably cools down with some wind on it if anything
Transducers do wear out and have a lifespan that can't really be timed/known. Maybe estimated at 5 or 10 years. Some will last longer than others. Do you want to use part of that time traveling and not getting the use or disable it and get to view more of its life?
