Does anyone know where I can download the previous Lowrance software fort AT2, HDS Pro 16, HDS Live 12? Just upgraded and feels like a downgrade to me. I can no longer see my bait and there is a tremendous amount of noise on the screen now. I want to go back to the previous version.
Wow, you are the first. This update is so good I’m actually shocked at my images. I have all the previous updates stored on my computer but no idea how to get it to you. If someone knows how, I’m happy to send it to you. Just shocked to hear it though. I definitely had to tweak my settings a bit but just thrilled with the images on AT2, Structure 3D, and Ghost 360

I recommend you start over and follow the instructions and RESTORE DEFAULTS after a SAVE WAYPOINTS then do a HARD RESET. Then report back. This one of the best software updates in years.
Turn down your contrast. You would probably benefit from a hard reset also, but not a good idea right before your tournament. In fact, the ONLY time I wouldn't do an update would be just before a tournament.
I also wouldn't revert back, especially before a tournament.
Turning down the contrast makes it even more difficult to see the lure. In case this helps others, the standard pallets (1-6) do seem moderately better in terms of clarity but there is lots of noise in the upper part of the column that wasn't there previously. I have done a hard reset to see if that cleared anything up. It doesn't seem like it did but I'll know more tomorrow. And the tournament is just a club derby, nothing serious though I would like to be able to see as well as before.
I had been using pallet 7 pretty much exclusively. It's a weird pallet (looks like old school sonar) but once I got used to it, it was much easier to see in bright sunlight. But now, since the update, there is just too much noise on pallet 7. I tuned the contrast up and down and also tried all of the noise reduction levels. Changing the noise reduction level to low or medium clears up the noise for the most part, but then it also prevents me from seeing the lure. Again, this wasn't an issue prior to the update. I also noticed (as someone else pointed out in another thread) that my side scan also looked like garbage with lots of noise in the water column. Down scan was even worse and seemed to have trouble holding solid bottom over 20 ft. Again, both side and down looked very good before the update.
And I tried shutting down everything in the boat to get rid of the noise but that didn't change a thing. All of this was introduced by the update. I do have the older LSS2 transducer for side and down, this could be the problem there. I've got a newer transducer from the HDS Pro but I haven't installed it as there really wasn't a need up to this point.
Oh, and I'm also getting the "finalizing update" message on the HDS16Pro. No biggie, but thought I'd mention it.

I'm not sure how you can be certain that "it can't be" the update. But that's neither here nor there. Anyway, I did do the hard reset last night as I mentioned in a previous post. The transducer install is just fine. I've been using this setup for ~2 years. The only change was the update. As far as experimenting, I did tweak the contrast and noise filter.Quote:

My observations thus far regarding the update are this:
- Typical color pallets (1-6), which I think most people use, do look substantially better with more detail and a better bottom return for the most part. They also seem to mask the noise that I see on pallet 7.

Since the update I now have significant problems seeing the bait hit the water's surface and falling through the water column due to excessive noise, but once the bait reaches the bottom third of the water column it becomes more visible. This is strange and not the previous behavior I was seeing.
- Before applying the new update I could see my bait hit the water's surface and fall through the water column out to 80 feet or more there was no significant noise in the top 2/3 of the screen like I see now.
- Because of this noise I now see in the top 2/3 of the water column out to about 40 ft, seeing anything move through the water column is very difficult.
- To clear up this excessive noise and make the screen somewhat usable, I have to set the noise filter to Medium. Prior to the update I ran my noise filter completely off.
- The noise I'm now seeing on pallet 7 could be due, in part at least, to pollen in the water.
- 800kHz Side scan also has significant noise in the water column. This could be due to pollen but not sure
- 800kHz Down scan return looks weaker than previous returns and I'm seeing a zipper artifact running down the center line intermittently (very strange, never seen this before)
Does anyone else use pallet 7? Is it clear for you or are you seeing excessive noise since the new update?

188 musky is right, something else is wrong.
A ray of hope for me. I spent some more time with the 25.1 update this weekend. And while my beloved pallet #7 seems to be permanently wrecked from excessive noise, I was able to get pallet #1 and pallet #3 working pretty well for me with the contrast running at or around auto and noise reduction completely off. With this setup I can see my lure pretty well. I don't think I can see it as well as I could previously with pallet #7, especially in bright sunlight, but the increased detail is pretty nice. It's almost like things were just slightly out of "focus" and then the 25.1 came along and fixed that focus issue. Kinda like what they did with the Hubble telescope :) So for now, I guess I'm staying with 25.1 but I do have 23.3 in my back pocket, just in case.
BONUS: I had never used Scout mode prior to this weekend, primarily because I fish deeper reservoirs most of the time and also because it seemed like the general consensus was that it just wasn't that good. But I must say, after turning it on this weekend, I was thoroughly impressed by it.
Lowrance has played around with sensitivity on 25.1, for all types of sonar. I have no idea exactly what they have done, but as many other have also mentioned, the equipment is more sensitive than before. On the good side that means picking up more detail and showing it better, on the bad side those changes might have opened up the door for interference you had before as well, it was just not visible.
I see this myself on my SS 3D, that now shows what I believe to be turbulence that was not there before the update. And there I was thinking I mounted that thing perfectly - but I`ll have to start adjusting the transducer again.
IMO, my 1/16oz jigs are harder to see than before the update. I've only been out once since updating my Pro's, Lives, AT 2 and Ghost and will reserve judgement until I have more time on the water with it. Fishing for crappie fish is all I do, and 95% of that in the winter before the terrorists arrive.
If the need arises that I need to revert back to the previous version I have it on my computer. Heck, I have updates all the way back to 2010! LOL
