Networking Question w-AT
Have Live 12 at console and Live 12 at bow with Active Target 2. Currently connected via Ethernet only. Adding in a Point 1 and need to network all devices. Does the AT connect to a network tee as well or only to the Live 12 at the bow?
Also will networking correct some of the glitches between units? I get a pop up message at the bow asking about which chart card to use probably 10+ times a day in an 8hr tournament. Frustrating.
Thanks!Attachment 568615

Active target doesn’t use the NMEA network. If you have two map cards take out the one you don’t use.

You need to build a NMEA 2000 network. Buy a NMEA2000 starter kit and one more Tee and 2-foot drop cable and follow the diagrams. This will network all your units and allow the Point-1 to do its magic with both LIVEs.

Will do. Thanks for the info!

I have my nema 2000 starter kit, an extra tee and another drop cable. To confirm, can the nema power cable be plugged to the end of the first tee instead of a terminator? This would alleviate one tee as I would plug one of the units or the point 1 to the top of that same tee where the power cord would be plugged into the end. I’m pretty sure I watched a Russell Marine video where they did it this way.

Rule of thumb. Bottom of T connectors is for drop cables to units or accessories including power. Sides of T connectors is for extension cables or terminators. Follow this rule and it will always work. Seen people try to use less Ts and put extensions out the bottom. Sometimes it works sometimes not. Just do it the industry standard way and you will never be back here asking questions about your NMEA network. Not sure if Russell would have done this. They are pretty knowledgeable

You need a T for power and a T for each device.

10-4. Thanks for the info.

I saw the video you referenced. Definitely done wrong. Check the comments, a bunch of people asked about that. Power needs to come from the top of a T connector.

Installed over the weekend with all devices and power coming into the top of the tees and terminator resistors on both ends of the backbone. All seems to be working correctly. Plan to calibrated this coming weekend and hopefully off the the races. Thanks again!
