To much on my mind. Family, work, bills, money......
Feel for you brother right there with you. Bet I haven’t had six hours all week
In bed is my worst time for pondering things I’d rather not. Not enough activity to keep my mind off things. I do the same quite a bit.
Justin,
Life is like the stock market, it goes up and once in a while it crashes, but comes back all the time. If you have your health, family and friends, you will always be rich in that respect. When I start thinking of the mistakes I made and the bad life events I had, I try to focus on a happy memory and keep it in my mind, when I lay down to sleep.
In the past 25 years we've had our ups and downs and the downs were bad but we have survived.
BTW, my son is a few years older than you and was going through the same thing last year. He has rebounded. IMO I think it's the "40's" age thing
This happens to a lot of us. If this becomes a chronic issue be sure to see your dorctor. Sleep is important. If medical marijuana is legal consider some drops to take before bed. Another thiing is to unplug before bed. No phones, computers, or TVs. These things stimulate your mine and offer little control on what you mentally intake. Consider reading a book before bed, something ight, and easy to read. Going through my seperation and divorce many years ago took that advice and read the Harry Potter series. I read them in my bed, under the covers until the point my eyes would not stay open anymore. Sometime I would fall asleep with the book on my chest. Reading made my mind "tired".
Pray about everything ….. worry about nothing
I'm in the same boat, I tossed and turned last night until 3AM. Found some sleeping syrup and took 2 recommended tablespoons BUT I am scheduled for a knee replacement Tuesday and I don't think I am supposed to take it.
Insomnia is a bitch. Might have slept from 3:30 until 6:30, I did dream.
I sleep decent 1-2 nights a week.
Totally relaxing your face helps. Pick a word, any word. Then, see how many words that you can make out of each letter in your original word. It's almost like counting sheep.
Try it. It has worked for me on those sleepless nights.
Let the Big Man upstairs carry that burden for you. You will accomplish nothing fretting over things that are beyond your control.
A Benadryl helps me.
If I ever get 4 hours of sleep it's a good night.
A 10mg Melatonin puts me into dreamland pretty fast with no hangover the next day. I get to sleep around 11...then up to pee at 1:30...2:30....3:30. Then around 4:00 my knee decides to join into the fun with eye watering pain. However, gettin up and walking to the bathroom make the knee feel better. Up to pee again at 5:30 and then back to bed to toss and turn until 6:30 or 7 when getting up to let Joe out and feed him becomes necessary. I think the melatonin helps get me back to sleep without all the thinking about all that other crap.
We all got Family, work, bills, money on our minds 24-7.....
Since the time change it’s been hard to get to sleep and stay..
Whether during my hard times or prosperous times my mind has always found something to ponder about at 3AM to wake me up.
The only remedy for me is hard physical work like planting a garden or washing the cars and boat. When I am bone tired I sleep like a baby.
