Help with Rod Selection...
As most here know I need to replace a few rods and will be ready to do so shortly. At present I was thinking of upgrading from the St Croix Premier's that I had to well let's just say that is where my problem begins. Would like to go up to the St Croix Avid's to stay within the St Croix family line, but will also consider another line also. I am looking to upgrade the following applications:
Senko
Drop Shot
Shakey
Worm/Jig
Spinnerbait
Topwater
Jerkbait
Frog
Any ideas? It does not have to all be the same brand either. Thanks!

Shakey head I would look at the rod Jboss has for sale on here or either IM fastcat250 Ron does great work and I am waiting for rods from him for myself, Brad, and Pete.......6'9" for all around use M action Fast taper
Spinnerbait rod I love my Kistler Magnesium 6'9" MH it has a great tip on it and super soft feel. Only problem is I have had a couple come unbuttoned with braid on this rod and went back to mono to see if the line having some give will compensate for lost braid fish.
Senko don't really know can't find one i really like http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
I use a Loomis MBR844 for my heavy pitching of a worm or jig and a MBR853 for casting worms and small jigs and both of those are superb rods. The 844 also doubles as a rig rod and does a hell of a job with that.
I don't dropshot so I don't know but believe Jboss has one for sell as well. It looks nice to.
My topwater rod is currently an american rodsmiths 6'6" M Topwater special and it is a nice rod and real close to what I want but not quite.
Jerkbait rod is a Castaway 6'6" M action moderate taper MB66 i believe is the model #. Very soft and forgiving also use it for spitting image and some cranking if i have to.
Frog rod was a custom built by Oakes rods, which I got rid fo b/c I wasn't using it enough not sure if i will keep another frog rod.
For buzzing styles toads I use a 7' H action Skeet's custom or a 6'6" MH Skeet's custom depending on how far I am casting the bait and how thick the vegetation is.
These what I use Gary only typed all this cause I am bored right now....LOL....I personally use many different brands b/c I can't find one company that makes rods that I like for all applications.

Re: Help with Rod Selection... (JonBoat14)
I can help you with some rod selections if you want. While we have technique specific rods that we recommend, different people have different likes and dislikes in what they are looking for. Feel free to contact me and I will be glad to help whether you choose my rods or someone elses.
Re: Help with Rod Selection... (JonBoat14)
I don't know how much you want to spend and how the price of "custom" rods compare to "off the rack" rods....... but here is my experience
I have a few Castaways, a G Loomis, and have used many of the other major brands (BassPro, Shimano, Quantum, Berkley, etc).
The best moderately priced off the rack rods that I have used are the Falcon Lowrider rods. Like anything else this is all personal preference and varies from person to person and by technique.
My favorite cranking rod is an inexpensive BassPro rod.
Hope this is helpful.

I have a handful of Skeets rods, they are sweet. C-rig rod is my favorite.
Re: Help with Rod Selection... (Lea)
I am going to try to make it to the rally. It's being held not long before the NBC Championship and I'm going to have to get my practice schedule worked out for it. I hope to know soon.
Re: Help with Rod Selection... (SkeetsFishingRods)
