Looking for some info? Chowan River?
From what I hear my club tourn on the Chowan River this weekend is out of a ramp down by the 17 bridge, never fished down there. I see a creek a couple miles north of the ramp that leads all the way back to a lake of sorts. Is this navigatable all the way to the lake?
My boat is only 18' long so I really don't want to get out into any big water with the winds this time of year. Can anyone recommend any other areas for me to fish down in this area of the river where I can get out of the wind?
Thanks, Bill http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

There are several good creeks within a couple of miles from the ramp. That is the roughest part of the river, but you should be OK if you don't get in a hurry.

Yep sounds like Pembroke to me also because the place he is talking about north is the creek that goes past the old railroad bridge and back to a small open body of water. Plan on fishing edenton bay and the creek there if the wind is up or carry some duct tape with you. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

Talking to one of the other guys it definately sounds like we're putting in at the 17 bridge (the tx dir. is planning on running over to Salmon). I've fished out of Pembroke and would obviously rather put in there.
We'll discuss options in case the wind is up tonight at our monthly meeting. Don't really enjoy launching and pulling out with water coming up over the stern, so if it doesn't look good I just might go up to Shoup's for a day of fun fishing.
No one ever said, can I navigate all the way back to the lake going up Rocky Hock?
I'll let you all know more tomorrow.
Thanks guys, Bill http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

If the fish are on, you can stay in Edenton Bay all day long. The way I fish it though, I think its just a little too early in the season yet.
There was a time when I would run to Edenton Bay from launch sites as far away as Coinjock Canal. It used to be that good!
If weather conditions allow, I wouldnt rule out the Roanoke. Good luck.

That's a big IF. Running to Roanoke in anything less than the queen mary could be suicide when the wind picks up!!!

Robs right, running to the Roanoke on a good day would be an idea,I've run it along with others on not so good of a day in less than the Queen Mary, always happy to make it back to the ramp. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif

Hey Billy
launching from rt.17 ramp unless the wind is really bad, then Pembroke as a backup.

17 Bridge is not a good place to launch from this time of year,March Winds!!

you are free to launch and retrieve anywhere you want as long as you are at the designated site before blast off and for weigh-in.
don't know if that helps but I did ask.
