Tournament Results (long read)
I told you so. 21+ sack. It wasn't mine thou. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif We also had a 18+ sack for second. I don't know what third was. All in all it was a good day of fishing with several sacks in the 12lb range. I do have a couple of amusing stories from my day on the water. This is my day on the water..... Started throwing topwater with one missed blowup. I switched to a swimbait and put one small keeper in the boat pretty quick. About five minutes later I stick a good fish and can't turn her. She ends up in the stickups and is history I have a pattern. WRONG... After about a hour of nada i make a move to a rock bank and continue beating the water to a froth with my stupid swimbait. I make a long cast and come thru some stick ups and it feels like I have pulled the hook out of the nose of my swimbait. I am reeling it in and it drifts left I speed up my retrieve and it continues to come with almost no resistance. I slow down and it drifts right and I am now thinking I have part of the stickup. Low and behold after about 30 cranks I realize it is a fish http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif set the hook and keeper #2 is in the boat. I thank the Lord for gifting me this fish. It made up up for the one I lost earlier. Another hour goes by and nada.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif Now here is STORY #1... I hear this big splash behind me and turn to look and a deer is headed across the main lake with a coyote stand on the point she jump from. I know there is no way she can make across the main lake so I motor up and turn her back to were jumped in. Mind you the yote is still pacing the point about 25 yards in. I just happen to have my carry gun on me (RUGER LCP 380) . This gun has a barrel about 2" long. I now have gun in hand and am on the yote as the deer makes land. She just stands there and the yote is broad side. Well all I have to say is, the short little gun is loud when fired from a boat. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif I don't know for sure but if I missed it was close enough to scare the chit of him cause he hauled butt. Now back to my fishing. I decide to quit junk fishing and do what I do best... Cattails, Bullrushes, Tullies. I pull out my flipping stick and catch keeper #3 within five minutes. This is about 11:00 o'clock. Finally a pattern. WRONG... Another hour and nada... I see a couple of my buds that are fishing together in another cove and they start gloating about 5 each with one over 8lbs. They tell me to fall in behind them. I was pretty well whooped at this point. I fish about five minutes and yank a small keeper out of the water and it come un buttoned. New life. About ten more yards I stick a decent fish dep in the cattails and after a good battle keeper #4 is in the boat. At this point all I can think about is I have one hour to stick one more keeper and save face to the TBC FORUM. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif Now for STORY #2... I fish about ten yard further and thumppppp. I set the hook and she breaks me off in the cattails. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif I cuss myself for not retying after the hard battle five minutes earlier. I strip about 3 or 4 foot of line and retie. I flip right back into the same cattails and low and behold thumppppp. I set the hook and this time I have her... for a very shot time. She broke me off again. Two flips and two broke lines..... Moral to story #2 is strip of about ten foot of line. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif Well that was the last chance I had. I ended up with 4 fish for 9.99lbs. all in all it was a great day on the water. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

I'm a noob on TX bass but have been surprised at the bags that have been coming in in this heat. Is this normal and should I get out & melt in hopes of a decent day in this heat? I hate NOT fishing but...
Re: Tournament Results (pYr8)
We still have a few hidden secrets here in West TX. We have to be careful or the MetroMess wll invade. If you have some water with heavy cover they should be producing with this heat and sunny days. Fish and their forage tend to love the shade when it is this hot. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif To answer your question, no these weights are not typical in Aug.

We cut and welded steel all day Sat at the lake. Gettin ready to thin the deer herd. It was miserable hot. I never gave a thought to launching the boat. And I'm not sure I could have if I wanted to, it's over 10 feet down now. However it did RAIN there this morning.

Re: Tournament Results (Corkpuller)
I can teach you to use a torch in 10 minutes. The welding, however, takes a lttle while. I worked in the shipyards a long long time ago.
