I need to replace my steering cables. Any tutorials to do so? Also an estimated price for good used ones?
Thanks

Do not even think about using used ones, Likely you will have to replace the whole steering unit because if it's a Teleflex unit they do not make the old cables anymore. I found Ebay to be the cheapest at around $339.00 plus shipping! $475.00 is list!!!!!
Is it the dual rack system? If it is you can still get those cables, http://www.jamestowndistributors.com you will need your length when you order. Just disconnect at the tie bar and unbolt them from the helm. Pull them out from your console side. Tie a piece of 3/8" nylon rope into the eye of each cable so you can use it to pull the new cables back.
Thanks for the tip!

I just bought and installed new dual rack cables from http://www.boatersland.com. They were by far the cheapest with some places twice that. I paid $88.00 a piece for two 14' rack and cable assemblies. They were the Teleflex SSC12414. You might want to look there before you buy. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
There is a place in Canada that still lists most of the older cables, it was the only place I could find new dual rack cables for a Javelin I had, needed new ones on there before I sold the rig. Their website is http://www.marinemanifold.com/.
