Johnson GT150 question...
Unfortunately I cannot afford a new boat so I am looking at used ones. I have seen a couple for sale with an 87 GT150 and one with an 89 GT150.
How are these motors? I actually have noticed them in the past and see a lot of them for an older motor...
Anyone got anything about them they could share? Maybe common problems and what I could check when I look at them? I plan to do a compression test on them.

Pretty bullet proof a solid block for sure been around for a long time. They do like the fuel when run at WOT. Run good oil in it and Champion plugs QL77JC4's and you should be good for a long time.

I own a 1990 GT 150 and has been a good engine--no major problems-- I decarb occasionally and run XD50 other than that just normal maintenance. Good Luck boat shopping!!!
