Low oil alert on smart gauge
I have been chasing this issue for over two years and even took it to a repair shop to see if they could find the issue (they couldn't). The problem was sporadic; I might go three trips with no issue and then it would happen again. Spending an hour with my head stuck in the battery compartment with the system pressurized to 5 psi (in the shop with everything turned off so I could hear any air leak), I finally discovered two air leaks; one was the hose clamp where the air line attaches to the remote fill cap, and the other was the clamp holding the oil fill tube to the remote fill cap. The air coming out was really faint sounding, which is why it was so hard to find. I replaced the worm style clamp that was on the air line with a fuel injector clamp (better contact to the hose), and had to adjust the clamp up and down on the fill tube to find the sweet spot that actually sealed it to the fitting. The system is now holding air pressure with no bleed down. Just posting this in the hopes that it will help someone else in the future.
