There are some neat ones out there. I have seen some that they use an enclosure on an arm or a wheel.

I did that once on a 46' Chris Craft. Going up the one side is nothing, then you cross the road and you're looking a long way down to the water.

That's how they did some locks in the 1800's. The rail car was hauled by wire wound by water powered turbines in towers at the high level.
