Communication between units

I have HDS Live 12 on the console and a new HDS Live 9 on the bow and have them connected to each other. The 12 on the console has C Map built in. Should the 9 on the bow automatically pick up the map from the console unit. If so, why couldn't I get the map to come up? The only choices on the unit menu were Lowrance and Navionics.

Built in Maps on Lowrance units do not share. If put a cmap card in one it will share between both units. You most likely have the same or very close to the same mapping in ea unit. There were 3 different cmap maps put into Lives over the 5 yr production run.
