Re: East Texas Hunters (utinator)
IMO, East Texas deer get a ton more pressure due to lower populations and hunters shooting everything that walks out.
There are some monsters there, don't get me wrong. I do think the deer in East Texas have grown in numbers the past few years.
Good luck http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: East Texas Hunters (Bobs21X)
There's been alot of restictions on antler size in the past 3 years and it has helped. I'm more north east and we still have LOTS of small deer but they are getting bigger. I took a nice 8pt this year from the farm. If you go to the parks and wildlife site you can look up the limits by countys.
Re: East Texas Hunters (utinator)
Jacksonville is Cherokee county if I'm not mistaken..?? You will see bigger body/ horns with more mass than you will around San Antonio. However, you will not see anywhere new the numbers that you will see in West Texas. It all depends on who's been hunting the property, folage, and so forth. Should be a two buck, two doe county, with 13 inch antler restriction.
Re: East Texas Hunters (ToledoBendChamp)
most people in east tx own five acres seven dogs and hunt deer year round. Its not to hard ti figure it out!
Re: East Texas Hunters (utinator)
Thanks for the info guys. I'm not real big into hunting, but it would be nice to have the option. I'm mostly looking for a place to retire where I can build my own pond. There's a place east of Jacksonville that I'm seriously considering. I plan on making a trip over there in a few weeks. From what I heard, they have a problem with beavers tearing up the pond dams. I figure, it's nothing a 22-250 can't handle. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/devil.gif
