Re: lake bastrop help.. (jnbdavies)
The lake is small enough that you can put in at either of the two ramps and have no problem covering the lake in a day. The discharge is near the North Ramp and has still been the place to be lately. You can pick up a map of the lake at the South Shore ramp (building near the ramp) and should be able to navigate to the discharge pretty easily. Other than the discharge, working the grasslines almost always yields some fish. I've also done some CR off the deeper points in the lake with good success and make sure you hit the wood in the cove near the discharge and the cove on the otherside of the North ramp as they will be on wood some times. There are a couple of humps in the mid-lake area across from the dam rip-rap that can produce as well as the dam rip-rap and grass near the dam itself. I'd start at the discharge and go from there.............as I said, the lake is small enough that you can fish most of these patterns and areas in a day. As for baits...........the usual suspects work.........flukes, rattlesnakes, lizards, jigs and spinnerbaits and cranks work well when the bite is more aggressive.
