hey guys i religously change my lower unit every spring. this year i take the bottom plug out and some water ran out with the oil. then it went to str8 oil. the oil looked fine. it looked new actually. should i be worried and is there any thing i can do about it. also i drain my lower unit every time i leave the water. every time! i also store the motor in the down posistion during the winter. thanks
Pull your prop more than likely you have some fishing line around the prop shaft and ate the seal up. It happens all the time. The seal on the rear bearing carrier needs to be replaced. But if you don't see any fishing line you need to have the LU pressure/vacuum tested that will tell you where the leak is. You're looking at around 1-2 Benjamins to fix it.

Best thing to do at this point is pressure test, like Fred say's. This will tell you which seal or O ring is the culprit. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
