how to start cold 225 venom
how to start cold 225 venom with hot foot In the morning I pump the bulb up then turn the switch on and push it in 5 or 6 times, then I hold it in and try to start the motor. while it is turning over Ipat on the hot foot a little, if it starts it run a second and quits. After trying again it usually floods out. When it starts up I have to keep on Patting on the hot foot till it runs. The rest of the day it starts instantly. Any advise or help? Thanks just trying to get on the water without a big smokescreen in the am!

You don't need to hit the throttle.
Pump the bulb, then turn the key to the on position, and push in while turning to cranking position. You have to keep the key pushed in until the engine fires, and then keep pushing it in if it stumbles.
These engines are cold natured, but once you get it started, it should do fine.
My Venom 200 was tough to get going too. Great engine, but cold natured as all get out. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

I have the same motor and yes they are cold natured. Like said before pump bulb, push choke in 4 or 5 times and hold in. Let run let out if it starts to stall puch back in. That will fix it for sure took me a while to figure tha out.

It's gonna smoke some. But chances are if he is revving it up once it starts, that is where the excessive smoke is coming from, and he doesn't need to do that. The quickstart will keep the rpms up around 1100 to 1200, and you should leave it in neutral until they drop down below 1000. It will smoke much less if you do that. And your lower unit will last longer.
