Baitcasting Reels, which one????
I need your experience and/or advice on which brand and model of baitcasting reel to buy this upcoming week at Bass Pro Shops. The problem for me is I don't want to spend more than $120 for a reel. YES, I plan on trading in an older reel to save a few dollars
(I bought about 4 Rick Clunn baitcasting reels over the last 4 years. 3 of the 4 will start grinding their gears when I make a cast after about 2 years - had them rebuild, etc. I am tired of having to send them in)
I was thinking about getting the Diawa Tierra or the Shimano Citica (both about the same price). How are the Johnny Morris reels? Will I have the same problem with them as the Rick Clunn?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Jeff

Abu Garcia Revo S
This should fit that high end of your price range (about 130.00), especially with the trade in.

I have been Abu-Garcia Loyal for nearly forever but have recently liked the size and quality of the Bass Pro Reels...Awesome reels for under $100.00 http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

The only advice I can offer is to make sure the reel has a one piece aluminum frame. Many of the reels in the price range you mentioned have either graphite frames or aluminum frames and graphite sideplates, you don't want any of those as they will flex under heavy loads. Many of the reels the guys mentioned are nice and will serve you well. For the price point you are at don't discount the Quantum Kinetic, it's super light and will cast a bait a country mile for $119.00.
Good luck.
