Evinrunde 200HP Ficht quittiing problems
Can anybody out there help
I have twin 2001 200's Ficht Evinrudes, they run great however they may shut down for no reason at any giving time.( just like I switched off the ignition switch)
It could happen to either port or starboard. Last time out ran for 2 hours, then coming into port at idle starboard just died, wait 3-4 minutes started just fine. Time before running at 30 mph. port quit, I shut down starboard (so I could hear if port was turning over when I tried to restart it) it wasn't. went to restart starboard "nothing" waited 3-4 minutes both fired up like nothing happened.
I replaced kill switch at advice of mechanic-no change. I have 2 main battery switches both were in ALL position. Can't seem to figure what going on.
Has anybody had similar problem. Thanks.

Welcome to the boards john. I will move this from the help forum to the Evinrude motors forum.

I have a 2001 200 FICHT also. Sounds like the EMM is in the very early stages of failure. Mine was internally getting hot and shutting the motor down with no warnings. Waiting the 3 to 4 monutes will progresively get worse and eventually (if you are stubborn like me) you will experience waits of up to an hour before it cools enough to start. DFI Technologies in AL will fix your EMM and get them "tumed up" .They did mine a few months ago for around 700ish dollars and my motor has been great ever since. Since yours in in the early stages, You mat not need a full EMM "rebuild". Keep in mind that I am no mechanic, but what you have described is very symptomatic of the EMM problem. There are some other posts in here , Do a search. Good luck.

The shutdown, wait, then restart is a unknown problem. Several others on here have had it. Mine (2001 250) would shut off by itself. Turn the key, nothing. Wait about 10 minutes (same interval everytime) then off you go as if nothing happened. Shipped the computer to DFI and they fixed it.
