I drove past this weekend and it still had alot of ice cover on it.
reports on OGF still have people saying there's ice.........but some open water. I don't think it's going to be long now though. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif
I also read on there that Salt Fork is mostly open - guys were launching out of Morning Glory and only the backs of the coves still had ice.
Tappan is wide open
Drove by today, had open water, and also some ice. Should all be gone with the 50 degree weather this week, start there in 2 weeks so better be thawed out! Hate fishing on hard water lol
when we going bill?
Hey man as soon as theres no ice Im game. Lets go watch another huge bag brought in.
why don't you pansys sign up for the boy scout icebreaker on april 2nd and put your money where your mouths are! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

Man I fished a few years back and have never been so cold on a boat as we were that weekend.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif
yeah - I fished it last year (2nd time) and it was brutal...........my first time (couple years back) it was chilly - but not brutal cold like it was last year....... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/cold1.gif
The Bad Bass Champs season begins there in a week and a half....I am hoping to get out there once or twice before the 27th.
Good luck Mike! Some of those guys in Bad Bass are tough on Portage
Yep they are tough and not just at Portage they are tough at all the stops on the schedule.
you wanna talk about tough on portage - come fish some of those working mans tourneys on wed nights............they are from like 4pm - 8pm?? Anyhow - the couple I fished were brutal. To break into the money you needed a 13+ lbs sack - for 3 fish!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif
I am just hoping for some nicer weather this year for the first tourney at Portage. Last year we fished it on 3/28 and it was raining, snowing and blowing...I couldn't feel my fingers after the first hour. We blanked and it took nearly 22lbs to win it....I have my fingers and toes crossed for 50+ degrees and better fishing for us than last year.
I might be heading to Portage sometime today or tomorrow to see how things are....the ice should be gone.
there's a tourney this weekend - march 26th.......is that the one you're talking about?? I believe it's for the Bad Bass trail........
No...Bad Bass is on the 27th...the one on the 26th is a 5 hour PBLM (personal best largemouth) I think it's like a big bass shootout....the biggest single bass wins.
you are correct, sir - http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Lol...for once....oh and they are biting in Portage NOW!!!
