Johnson Prop Shaft Question

I've run a new non current year 2000 3.0 L 200 Johnson for 5 hours now.
I just noticed, when changing propellers, that you can push the prop shaft in and out maybe an eigth of an inch or a bit more.
On my previous motors that shafts were always rigid and never moved.
It seems to run OK!
Is it something to be concerned about?

Sounds like it needs a shim. It shouldn't move.

I don't know what the call out is on it as far as backlash, but can tell ya mine does the same thing........

Mine's a 1999 and it has that much play in it.

That is normal and you should not be concerned.
