Yeah Maybe a mile or two.
id say depends on what boat.
Right...you would see the most significant difference on a hull design like Allison, Stroker, & Bullet where you can get the propshaft above the pad, run bigger props, & surface the prop. Otherwise, the difference won't be very much.
It won't live surfacing the case.........:) gonna end up pinning the carrier on it and the last ones I tried to run at 1.75" above pad on a bullet cooked the seals out of it with lwp.....
The boat is a 595 Charger 2000 22ft.

Very true...OMC never caught up with Merc on dependable high po lower units & BRP hasn't either.

Heavy boat & not a high po hull...save your $ and just stick with the LU you have.
22' Charger w/ non Ho 225, Probably not do any good. Your ratio would be 1.85 instead of 1.86 SIC http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif , would have a thinner profile, but water pick would be the same unless you put a Bob's nose cone on it. You don't have the ponies to really be able to hot rod the thing on a heavy boat like that......I'd an exercise in futility..............JMHO
