2003 175 Ficht Spark Plugs
I have never changed the plugs on this engine. So I pulled the cowl off and saw that there were some red lines marked on the plugs. So I am wondering if the plugs have to face a certain way or line up with something. If it is a tricky task I will take it to my mechanic. I am pretty handy but this motor has ran like a watch since brand new in 2003 so I don't want to screw anything up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes indeed, the plugs need to be "indexed" not a really difficult task, note the position of the line now, remove the plug and hold it in the same position, you will see it lines up with the open and of the Electrode and the injector on the Motor, or very close to it.

Re: 2003 175 Ficht Spark Plugs (SEAHORSE)
What boat are you running that engine on? Also what size prop are you running? Are you able to get 5500 t0 5700 rpm at wide open throttle? Thanks. I have the same year/same hp. Engine is on a 2003 Ranger 185vs. Presently I can only get 5200 to maybe 5300 rpm at WOT with a 24 in. Raker. Just wondering.

This boat is actually my dad's and it is an 18 foot crestliner tournament walleye boat. So so I cant really help you as far as a prop for your boat. My boat however is a 18 foot ranger with a 150 ho e-tec and I have to run a 22 raker or a 21 merc trophy plus to get up in the 5600-5700 rpm range.
