Can not buy an E-Tec for love of money.
I hope BRP US executives read this.....Here in southern Tasmania Australia try and buy an E-Tec...you can't...a friend who fitted my E-Tec115 was able to buy motors at a reasonable price from the north of the state, this dealer has had enough of BRP crap politics and won't sell BRP products, The Victorian BRP office is next to useless and won't help...now this friend has convinced the Tasmanian government that high tech 2 strokes are the way to go and that the E-Tec is the best, motors in question are the 225's and 150's but because he can't source E-Tec's he has been forced to go Optimax....BRP needs to have a good look them selves, its NO GOOD if you have the best product on the market if you can't buy it...BRP Australia don't seem to care...Tasmania is only a little backwater...what sort of marketing is that, you guy's in the US are blessed with the service and backup offered....I'm just glad my E-Tec 115 is a good and reliable motor and I don't require warranty work because there in none.
BRP please do something the rectify this problem...besides how else will you sell your products to small markets....remember its the little fish that taste sweet.
Chunder
ps not knocking the product only the supply.
Re: Can not buy an E-Tec for love of money. (Chunder)
BRP is running 24/7 at factory rpoducing all the models and can't even produce enough to fill all the USA orders so how can they supply overseas markets. The product is just too good and everyone wants one. They can't build a new factory at the moment too costly and takes a lot of time
Re: Can not buy an E-Tec for love of money. (Chunder)
Hi Chunder, no problem with supply, BRP at Bankstown have plenty of I-2 / I-3 / V4 and V6 in stock. Not sure about politics, but I can guarentee you in our over 45 years of operation BRP are the easiest company to deal with at dealer/manufacturer level. I think there are two sides to every story.
I find it hard to imagine that there is not a BRP dealer in Tasmania, but I would need to confirm this, if so you are right and BRP should do something about it.
Cheer,
Huey.

Hi Huey
There is a little one in the north of the state but he isn't able offer good enough margin to make it a viable proposition and BRP VIC don't seem to care....there is no one in the south selling Evinrude...most sell gray, black and silver.....also its a bigger market down here.

Re: Can not buy an E-Tec for love of money. (Chunder)
hhmm a few Aussies are starting to lurk around here, I hope you get some better representation down there, no use having a good product, but cannot get it, could be a bad management issue with a Local depot type of setup though.
Re: Can not buy an E-Tec for love of money. (Chunder)
Hi Chunder, I can not comment on margins in Tasmania, but here in Sydney E-TEC is very competeitve with the black, grey and silver engines. I have them all wanting us to sell their products and have pricelists and they are all similar priced. Maybe with freight the other guys, who have lost alot of market share to E-TEC are doing something to make it more attractive to get their engines across Bass Strait, which from what the Tassy dealers I know have told me, can be very expensive.
Next time I am talking to BRP I will see what the situation is and yes no good to have the best product on the market if an end user can not get one and have the back-up if needed.
Cheers,
Huey.
Re: Can not buy an E-Tec for love of money. (Huey)
Hi Huey
Its not the end price that's the problem, this guy can't get the motors for a reasonable price to fit to customers boats, he makes his money from the standard fit-up price and any other work to make the boat E-Tec ready...at the moment it would cost him lots of money to ship a motor from the north of the state even with a cost discount from this dealer its not viable...In this situation BRP should be selling through the nearest BRP agent and deliver direct to these guys...this would increase the BRP agents volume and every one would be happy...the product would be getting out there....well that's how I think it should work in a small market...and by the way there is a re-seller down here trying to get the BRP agency but they are a mob of crooks and you wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif

Hi Guys
There are two Evinrude dealers in Tasmania. When dealers sell more brands, their sales are split among brands. Tassie is a low volume market, our total population is just over 10% of Sydney's. Some of the brands have very good volume incentives making it hard for dealers to take on an extra brand because they lose out on these profitable incentives.
I've sent Chunder a PM offering to talk to him, I can probably help sort out his problem.

Hi Chunder, check your messages, because I have had a chat with BRP HQ here in Sydney and as I mentioned there are two sides to every story.
Huey.

Well chunder you have started - please post the other side of the story
Re: Can not buy an E-Tec for love of money. (canningtonj)
Hi, there is no big secret going on here. BRP know they have a hole is South Tassy (I am sure there are many parts of the world where all manufacturers have holes) and they did have a dealer there but he made a business decision to drop BRP, which he is entitled to do, but it did not upset BRP much anyway from what I was told. BRP have good dealers a couple of hours away and that is what I told Chunder.
BRP want a dealer there and are looking, but they do not what any dealer just so that they can say they have a dealer in a particular area. No dealer is better than a bad dealer.
Hope this helps and if Chunder or Greg wants to reply also it is their call,
Huey.

Thanks Huey
IM was sent to Greg with details and contacts.

Hi Canningtonj
There is no other side to the story, as was stated you have no BRP service in southern Tasmania and yes its only just up the road to the other end of the island, you are looking at 5 to 6 hours round trip towing a boat, who can take that sort of time off work and then there is the fuel cost.....All we want is a supply of motors and service info, that could happen through the northern dealer.
