I used "duck feet" like you buy @ cabella's or where ever and attached then to an old bull float handle. Bul float handle sections are usually 5' long and screw together.

Bull float handle or pole is used in concrete work, a bull float is about three feet wide.
They are made from aluminum and are about 10-12 foot long and some can take extensions that screw in for even longer, you can find them at most home improvement stores in the cement areas, I know Lowe's/Home Depot carries them, they aren't real cheap though.
