Check Engine alarm

Strarted getting a check engine alarm today. Alarm will sound light comes on if I step on the gass very little 2 or 300 rpms horn will start sounding and chech engine will flash. If I step on it alarm sounds for around 10-15 seconds and stops. The light will stay on. The engine seems to be running fine good power and top end. Has never gone into safe mode. I plan on getting it in the shop this week. I am just wondering if I am causing any damage if I go ahead and run it tomorrow?
