You know the plug on side of the motor that lets the pressure off. I left mine open there and hoisted my motor up and down slowly.Be careful and not get your hands pinned in the motor. I would loosen the cap where you add the oil at too and add fluid when needed. After a while all the air was out and I tightened the plug on the side of the motor. After the air gets out the trim starts working and you can work the rest of the air out by trimming it up and down, bleeding it off at the cap.

Look on the port side,on the motor bracket that attaches to the jack plate.there's a hole. You need a flat head screw driver.turning it left several times lets pressure off. This is what you do on the water if your motor gets stuck in the up position.loosen it up and you can get your prop back in the water to make it back to the landing.sometimes the trim will start working some after you loosen it and then tighten it back up.If it doesn't ,back at the landing it will take 2 gorillas to lift it back in the motor toter.Dont drag your foot on the ground.

Mine sounds like it has air in it. So I should loosen the screw on the left side, loosen the fill cap, move the motor up and down, tighten the screw on the left side, trim up and down until it sounds smooth, then fill with fluid and tighten the cap back on. Let me know if this sounds right.

Can you trim your motor up and down at all? When I changed all my seals in both trim rams there was so much air it wouldn't move any.
If your motor goes up and down at all you can get the air out at the cap, adding fluid if needed.
You were right above. When you finally get enough air out.You should be able to tighten the screw on the side and bleed the rest off at the cap.trim it up and down. When its at top you can loosen the fill cap and you'll here a hiss.Close it then. Then trim it back down, and then back up,loosening it again to make it hiss.repeat this until it doesn't hiss anymore and then it should sound good going up and down.Remember when you loosen that screw on the side the motor is coming down.I was using a chain hoist.

Re: How Do you refill and bleed power tilt trim? (Primus)

How hard was it to do the seals Primus?? I had mine done less then a yr ago more like 6 months and had to miss a trny this weekend because it want out AGAIN on friday, last day of prefishing on the way back to the dock when I got to the dock and got the boat on the trailer 1 of the top caps had backed off about half way and now I have a top cap that is missed up and I'm sure that top seal is cut. I was told it sounded more like a check valve but I'm thinking its just the top cap and seal.
I'm thinking about doing it myself because the place I take mine to is 200plus miles 1 way and I'm thinking it maybe a good Idea to be able to do this on the road if it happens again I have lossed 2 1 day trnys and a 2day trny over this trim, and I think if I order a few extra parts and have them in the truck it may save a trip when I'm 450 miles from the house.

Also were did you get the wranch to take the caps off and on I'm thinking I need to have 1 on hand even if I take it to Marcus again to get it fix so I can make sure the caps are not lose every 2-3 months

    Thanks for any info Kirk

I know if you have any nicks or scratches on the trim rods your seal will fail prematurely.Mine were mushroomed on the ends, like other people have talked about on here.I had to grind the mushroomed part down or you won't be able to slide the caps(the ones that you need the tool for when getting started) off the end of the trim rods to change the seals.Mines been alright for a year with no air getting in the system. The oil ring seal in these caps was the one I had trouble getting out.My neighbor had a tool (cork screw shaped on the end) that worked.I put a little oil on it getting them back in.I used a little punch and a hammer to loosen the caps, but if did it over again I would get that tool that I heard people buying on here. The seals should last years. You can buy the whole assembly for a little over 120 dollars each(new trim rods). When I started to do mine,I trimmed all the way up and flipped the lever that holds the motor up and then took the preesure off the system.
