    2008 Duramax : DPF Filter

94,000 trouble free miles on my Dmax and now I get this stink'n PDF filter clean message. I've done every little trick in the book to clean it but I still cannot get it to go away... worse part, it goes into limp mode!

    Help me out...

...and if you have done the DPF delete, let me know because I'm "---" this close!

See if you can find someone to clean the dpf. Also, check the catalyst if you have one. Ask a gm tech if you can have a regin done. Try a big truck dealership, or a local shop for dpf cleaning capabilities. Dpf filters are and can be pricey. The other option is adpf delete kit. However you may check to see if your state and or county does an exhaust check at truck inspection time, cuz if they do and you delete your dpf system you may not be able to obtain an inspection sticker, if your state requires it. Hope this helps.

according to our techs here at my work (GM Dealership) you might be able to clean it yourself.. they said drive it at speeds above 55mph until the light goes off.. If it is going into limp mode you might have to take it to a dealership.. they will drive it and when it goes into limp mode they will have a tech2 with them to clear the lamp and continue driving.. we have to do them all the time here.. there is another wat to do it without driving but it take a tech 2 scan tool to do it and they say its hard on the engine.. what it does is idle the engine up to like 2500rpms for a certian amount of time till the PDF is cleaned out.. he also said to not let them idle for long periods of time.. they need to be driven to keep the PDF cleaned out.. Letting them idle stops up the filter a lot quicker.. PM me if you have any other questions..

If it's in limp mode you need to go to the dealer. A scan tool will be required to run the regeneration process.
