Up the lake from Jacks Creek, the flats were covered with that grass(Japanese Water Hyacinth) & other vegitation. They sprayed in the fall & killed a lot of it but it didn"t move untill the water started comming up,I guess in Dec.There will be a bigger problem, just about every clump of that grass has a couple of live leaves & it has floated all over the lake.It will explode this spring when it gets warm, along with everything else in the lakes. On the upperend of the lake where this grass was matted, the oxygen level was 0 just before it was sprayed but the longer it stays in not to big of matted areas,it can protect a lot of fish untill Santee Cooper kills it.But it will come back.

Who ready for the snow tomorrow? Who's fishing in it? Guess this will stall out the fish from pulling up by next weekend. Good thing is there is some warm days in the forecast. Is the lake flooding yet?

What won the Catt trail today? I know the weather was rough
-
I heard 24 lbs with 4 fish won the Santee CATT yesterday.

Justin - yall still going to Carolina King this weekend? If so, be safe out there. There will be floaters just like in the river with the rising water.

Pretty much Billy. They decided to put in at jacks creek marina across from Carolina king. Lil more parking there. Yeah I'm worried about logs, stumps and now the weather. Looking like rain rain and more rain

As many of you know we have had a cold Spring, but we've still been getting good quality bass, just not the numbers like you do in Spring time. If you get around the right ones, you'll look like a "hero", but you can also "zero" pretty easy. Bass have not spawned yet as water temp in 50s, so plenty of opportunity here in April/May to get a nice one for your wall and/or good numbers of bass. Too many patterns and lures to mention, just be versatile with bait selection. My rule of thumb is when windy/overcast/early am, throw your horizontal fasting moving baits and when calm/sunny slow down to vertical baits mainly plastics. Always try to have relatively deeper water near the shallow water and more cover (wood/grass/rock) the better.
Here are a few pics from recent trips, you can click on them to view in larger format. Check me out at www.captchrisfishing.com and let's book a trip soon. Good fishing! Capt Chris
