Hey - I just remembered, a guy in our Bass Club installed the KeelShield on his new Lund Bass Boat. It will be a couple weeks before I see him again, but let me know and I can take some pictures for you.....

Because it was a painted bottom, when I was looking at the pro v bass, I was thinking of bringing it to rhino lining and having them prp and spray a keel guard in their material. It was the only thing I could think of that would conform to the hull of the Lund
Same keel as our other Pro Vs. I don't think you need a keel cap on them. It is a painted aluminum extrusion with rivets.. and a couple scratches on that keel looks better (to me) than a Keel guard wrapped around a center keel.. I never used one on my Pro Vs... but I have seen them several times on Lund ProVs .. Tyees and others.

Thanks Terry, It's better to have scratches on the keel
than it is to have them on your upper hull, from some
piece of metal on a courtesy dock. I use my boat, but dont
want it to look used. LDS

Painted aluminum is just hard to keep looking good like you can with a fiberglass bass boat. It’s hard to tell a three year old Lund from a 15 year old Lund. Pretty much everything you rub against leaves a scratch. That’s why you’ll see the standard answer from Lund guys - let it get scratched and just use it. Things that leave zero marks on a fiberglass boat will leave permanent loss of paint on a Lund.

For guys like me and you that want to keep the boat looking good this is a real problem I haven’t found an answer to yet. I’m thinking about just wrapping mine.

Another thing - Lund as a company is used to building boats that mainly are used to fish open water in northern lakes. Pretty much the only structure they see is the dock or the trailer. Fishing the pro v bass in flooded timber in high winds in Texas is a death sentence for the paint job. The boat is built like a tank, but the paint is extremely fragile.

I dont like scratches anywhere on my boat, thats
the reason I want to beach it for loading/unloading.
I know what the dock around here will do. A scratch
on the keel is a use mark, one above the water line
    is an OH-Shi//. LDS

minimal scratches on mine. The only scratches I see are from friends banging lures off side of boat.

If they bang my stuff up, they will be on a verrrrrry short
fishing friends list. I pay attention to how they take care of their
boat and equipment, and if they are rough, they dont have an opportunity
to get close to mine. Call that too picky, well thats the way I am.

I'm the same way. I had the front end of my boat done in paint protection film to stop the stone chips. So far its working out great. I plan on doing the gunnels next as the paint on them scratches way to easily.

There are several very durable paints on the market, sounds
as though Lund isnt using any of those. LDS

I'm very easy w/my stuff. I dont like UH Os or
O-shi?s. If I can avoid dock damage, everything
else is down hill. I dont fish shallow very often.
I'll break a bait off before I pull into a bank hazard.
