That fish wasn't a game changer but he sure surprised both of us in the boat.
It did not land beside me. It attacked my ankle! Still have the teeth marks.

I am in therapy right now. Sure glad it wasn't a pike muskie or long nose gar.

OMG, now I'm going to be responsible for setting up a GoFundMe account to cover your Therapy sessions.
It just never seems to end.
Thank God it wasn't a Gar, they are very toothy critters and could do SERIOUS damage to an ankle or leg. Yes, They do get air borne often.

I've had them go under one side of the boat and jump behind me, I always get a kick out of it when they do that

How did the tournament work with weight and the fish being released?

Gentleman's agreement, it was just myself and TMG (another member here) and with it being so hot, we agreed to weigh and release on the water and tally results at the end.

I set the hook in a night tourney and the line went slack. He jumped into the boat landing in the passenger seat. As I was headed back to grab him he flopped back into the water. I had to rush back and grab my rod as it was headed into the lake. 5 lb. 7 oz. Smallmouth Big fish in the club tourney that night.

    That was cool.

A few years ago fishing next to a mud flat, there was a boat idling by. Turned around to talk to them and a 2# bass jumped in the back of their boat. They threw it back of course and we all laughed about it, but I always wondered what they would have done if we had not witnessed it.

I was watching one of the tourney retrials last weekend and someone had the dorsal fin spines broke off in his ankle and during the 2 min penalty (light bulb...MLF) he couldn’t dig them out!

And they say fishing isn’t a contact sport!

nice video! He was meant to have you catch him!
