Prop for BassCat Cougar with Merc Pro XS 4 Stroke

I've got a new (to me) boat on the way.

    It's a 2016 BassCat Cougar FTD with a 2019 Merc 4 Stroke V8 250.

    Currently has a 26 Fury.

The current owner said I may want to shop around for a 23 or 24 Fury.

What kind of changes should I expect going from a 26 to a 23/24? If I understand correctly, it will increase my RPM - and make it slower to reach top speed. Will it actually affect my top speed?

The buyer said the motor had never passed 5800 RPM and topped out around 73mph.

Would a different prop change this?

I'm not necessarily worried about 73 vs 78mph - but I want the boat performing as it should.

26 fury is too much prop, 24 fury should be the prop you need

Needs 400 more rpm, 24 Fury should getter done, will have a better hole, better acceleration and may actually be a little faster as it will be operating at the recommended rpm
    Thank You Leon Pugh
