New 625 250 Pro XS 4stroke Setup Questions

Hey guys, i just picked up the new boat yesterday and ran the first 2.5 hours on it. After getting through the first 2 hours i opened it up and was only able to get 72.1 out of it. It has a 10" Bob's hydraulic plate and a 27 bravo I that i was turning right at 6k. I expected to be faster at that rpm. I know others are getting more speed than that, is this a prop issue or a setup issue? I ran the Jack plate from 2 to 4 with around 3 being the fastest. What props are running the fastest with the combo that i have?

    Thanks for any help!

Running same boat/motor with 26 fury 4. Running jackplate between 1.5 and 2. It runs faster than I can drive, have hit 78.7mph before, with a little more left in the spring time. Routinely cruise at 72-73.

What rpm's are you turning with the fury? I was surprised i could turn the 27 almost 6k.

I am not a prop expert. But it might not be a "true" 27 pitch. I have read that certain props are not what they claim. I.E. a 27 might be a true 25 pitch. Again, this just what I have read, and am far from a prop guy. Whether yours is one, I do not know. I turn around 6k rpm

Just because you can turn it 6k doesn't mean the prop is getting proper bite. A proper set up 625 should be at 10-12% prop slip, you are at 18%. Its a set up issue.

My 625 SHO combo came with the 27 Bravo also even after I had mine B&B it still only ran 76 at 6k rpm and 78 at 6200 when it was cool so I sold it .I am running my old 26 Fury off the 595 I had it runs 80 at 6k now in the heat and 82 at 6200 in the cool .My brother is going to let me try his 27 Turbo TXP OT4 soon I am also going to try a 28 Bravo a friend is going to get to me soon . I can let you know how they do if you want to know. These numbers are 1 person loaded to fish 1/2 to 3/4 gas.

I appreciate the replies and I'm happy to hear it's most likely a prop issue. I have a 26 fury that i can borrow from a buddy so that will be next. Can anyone tell me where on the plate these boats usually run best?

Just out of curiosity or I'm reading this wrong. Are you running a 26p Fury, 250 SHO on a 625 at 82mph? If so what gear ratio are you running?

In the winter it will but not now only 79-80 in summer .The prop is a B@B 26 Fury 3 It ran 76 to 78 on my 595 with a 225 PRO XS 2 stroke . SHO is stock with 1.75s from what I am hearing the new PRO XS numbers are about the same .

I got to 73.5 yesterday with 3 guys, full of gas with the 27 Bravo. I am curious of the consensus is that the Fury is the way to go and if the 3 or 4 blade is better. I'm a little worried that a 26 will turn too many rpm's...

The Bravo to me is better than the Fury on hole shot and is easer to drive but is 2 to 4 mph slower on top end Bravo props tend to have a more slip than 3blade props plus my Fury has been Balanced and blueprinted which cuts down on prop slip even more. I have not hit the limiter with the Fury .In a tournament a week ago loaded with 2 people & wells full 95 degree temps mine only ran 75 - 76

Does anyone have experience with other props on this setup? I am curious about the hydromotive props but would like to hear if anyone has had good results with them. I know the reputation of the Bravo's is that they have great holseshot and midrange but lack on top end. I would be willing to sacrifice some of those advantages for more speed.
