Fishing with Family We had a Epic Day on Lake Michigan (Lake Trout & Salmon)

Every year I make the trip back to see my family in Indiana and we go on a fishing charter on Lake Michigan for Salmon & Trout. This year we ended up with 21 fish, 18 big Lake Trout, and 3 Coho Salmon. It was a epic day out there...beautiful weather and awesome fishing. It was great to see everyone and catch up over some good fishing. We fished about 15 miles offshore in 100 - 140ft of water and caught fish on planers, dipsies, and down riggers. I was definitely a special day for us all.

Got to love that Lake Michigan salmon fishing. I used to have a boat at Michigan City. We fished the big lake for about 7 years. It was always a fun time.

It is a Whole Different World out there on the Big Pond. I remember I went with a Guy who liked his Pops. We launched out of Northport(?) in IL. and when we got back to the Harbor- we were in Wisconsin..... > That was before GPS and we only had a Compass and we just zig and Zagged for hours.

It is definitly a awesome time, I grew up on the Lake, so I was always out there fishing. I used to go to Michigan City Lighthouse and catch salmon, trout, and perch....it was good times.

    Easy recipe:

    - marinate a cedar plank in your favourite brine
    - place trout fillets on plank
    - broil/smoke fish on plank in BBQ for 20 minutes
    - toss the fish and eat the plank

... and turn down that annoying music!
