Texas is a big place. Maybe narrow it down a bit.

    ^ This

Since you are retired Navy most likely Popeye, San Antonio has great medical at Ft Sam and Lackland AFB. Or Waco/Belton areas, Ft Hood aka Ft Hoodlum has decent medical, and the VA in Temple. Some great lakes nearby to any of these places to start fishing.

Am getting ready for my second retirement. Since first retirement from USN been trying to get the wife to move to Texas. Think she’s almost ready.

It will be hotter than hell there during the day right now. Might do some night fishing.

Check out city-data.com look up Desoto. A lot of nice small and medium size towns in NE Tex. Do not forget to check out medical services for the places you look at.

I'd stay the heck out of Desoto. Maybe go a little farther south to Waxahachie.

Houston, San Antonio and Dallas I’d stay away from as well. Depends on what you are looking for as far as living. I live in west central Texas, slow paced and very rural. My future plans are to move to my house at lake Fork but I also really like the Rayburn/ Toledo bend area as well.

You will be real close to Joe pool. Lots of lakes in the DFW area though. Lots of clubs also and tournament trails

Northeast Texas is where it’s at. Don’t go south or you’ll be miserable.

If some weird crap happened, and I could no longer live in Oklahoma, I would be in Texas in a New York Minute.

Anywhere in Texas, I would not discriminate.
