    Sonar stops scrolling

I have a Carbon HDS 12 on my console. The unit has been recently updated with the current 19.1 software. I've noticed since the update that the sonar intermittently stops reading depth and stops scrolling. After a bit of time it will show the depth and start scrolling again. That happened a number of times each day over the last couple of days of using the boat. I'm using a glassed in Lowrance transducer that came with my boat. Has any one else experienced a similar problem and how did you correct the issue?

    Thanks

Did you do a hard reset after the update? If not, save waypoints and get to it. ;)

No, I just reset to defaults and then reloaded my settings and way points.

How old is the glassed in transducer? Mine does the same thing sometimes and I figure it is because the transducer is getting long in the tooth.

It was installed in the boat back in 2007 when the boat was new. So perhaps it's seen better days. I do have a skimmer on the transom that came with the Carbon unit so it's relatively new. I haven't had time to try that one since my Carbon was replaced with a new unit this spring.

another thing you can try is to reduce the ping rate to 18 or 19, but performing the hard reset is the best action to take.

Do a hard reset, and don’t import settings. (Just waypoints.)

    Hello Team
just some clarification on when to do hard reset procedure.
after saving my waypoints to sd card first, then import latest 19.1 software update, then reinstall my waypoints?
the latest 19.1 will override my previous 18.3 settings?
    thanks
    john

Ayer updating your software, then do a hard reset, then import waypoints and then create your settings

What would slowing the ping down do?

Slowing it down simply means it sends a signal less frequently. Now, why that is a potential solution is beyond me; it is simply what a couple of the Lowrance pro guys have suggested.
