    618 prop help?

Hey guys looking for a little help. I have a 2014 618/175 Pro xs. Been running a 24P tempest plus. She runs about 5800 rpm on the analog gauge at wot. I was gonna pick up a 24P 3 blade fury, guy at the prop shop says no way my boat will turn that prop. I used Mercury’s prop selector and it says 23 or 24P fury for options. I know Charliefch ran a 24 fury and I’m hoping he will chime in here. Question is do I take the prop guys advice and buy the 23 or get the 24? I need to get it tomorrow. I have a tournament on Saturday and a trip with a buddy Sunday. Thanks for the help guys!

Ive tried a 23 and 24 tempest plus and also a 23 and 24 fury and the best one overall for me has been the 23 fury, with the 23 tempest second best. For me the 24 fury ran great during cooler months with hardly anything in the boat, once i put any weight in the boat or added another person I just couldn’t turn it enough.

Thank you so much man! What kind of top speeds are you getting with either?

Best has been around 66 but typically around 63-64, that’s with just me at 185 lbs and a pretty hefty load of gear and usually 3/4 tank of fuel, Motor set at 3 1/4” below pad.

It is hard to be the Tempest when you start adding weight on a 618. Two people and full live wells and the Fury wasn't getting the job done. I run a 24 Tempest now and it runs and handles better than the 24 Fury I had but I generally run with quite a bit of weight in the boat.
