So true. You ever see the shirt that has an image of a manual shift that says "endangered species"?

You might feel more connected with the car, but in reality, and it's been proven over and over on the track, is that you are more in tune with the car when both your hands are where they need to be. On the steering wheel.

Otherwise, shifting gears is just fun. Until you're stick in traffic for hours with your high performance, heavy clutch.

I know automatics are way more convenient and faster in every type of racing performance testing. Honestly though, I'm a redneck, and every now and then when I take off, I like popping the clutch, smoking the tires, and grabbing second gear, then barking third while my wife smiles and shakes her head at me in the passenger seat. You just can't do that in an automatic.

can do it extremely easily with the dual clutch flappy paddles, and the shifts are way quicker than you can ever do manually.

There is a lot to be said about the joys of properly downshifting a manual while starting to brake into a corner in a nice sportscar. You cannot do that in that thing.

Who needs to pop a clutch to light em up when you have enough power and torque to just mash the pedal and lay patch clear through 7th.

Just wait until the new ZR1 is released. It's going to have electric motors up front and a twin turbo V8 in the back worth 1000 HP combined. The cries from the old farts will be far and wide.

My last Corvette was a manual, I grew tired of it in the city and had already vowed the next performance car I got would be a manual.

60 in a boat is nothing like 180+ in a car

For the record my rig will scratch 40mph in perfect conditions and yes it depresses me

A 90 mph off ramp is always more fun than a 140mph straight away in a car But you better stick with it Same with a bike only add about 30mph

I've seen proper race bikes at a few road courses...those dudes have tungsten balls for sure

Motocross doesn't impress me at all, but those dudes that just skip dragging their knee and go right to scrapping their elbows on the tarmac have all of my respect and I say they are straight crazy as a shit house rat...fun to watch though
