Mercury mechanics chime in - 2000 Optimax 225

I have read all the bad reviews about the 2000-2002 optimax.
However i need some advice from experienced owners/mechanics.

I found a really nice boat with 2000 optimax 225.
Guy said told me that soon after he bought it from a dealer in 2004 the motor fouled plug, replaced water jacket with new and improved one and hasnt had no issues up to present day. Motor has new lower unit due to stricking an object. He said motor runs great with no issues. Boat is extremely clean and priced good.

Should i pursue or walk? The motor is the main concern only because i have read all the stories. However, could his actually be a “good” one since its lasted this long?

replace both gaskets under pwr head clean tuner , put on a diet of D's cocktail,keep stats clean , PROP RIGHT ,roll on JOE

I have a 2002, with close to 1000 hours on it. Runs great. It's been an awesome motor.
