When I built a 518 online a couple weeks back the 175 was an option but is no longer. Anyone know why? Is it because the standard 518 is now rated for a 200 so they did away with the 175?

IMO The 518 is horribly underpowered by the 175.

I'm not shure, but my dealer told me that they are not producing the 175 Merc right now because of the demand for the V8's. Possibly that ranger can't get them right now so they took them off the build a boat website?
Why would you want the 175. Go max hp ..
The last answer is best but I would also venture to guess that the cost differential is better on the 200 due to the volume produced. When it can be cheaper to buy a new 250 over a 225 aught to tell you something.
