    Nrx Rods

I have a few nrx Rods and I love them! 802s, 852s, 894, 853, 873. Was looking for one for some all around applications like a spinnerbait or some other moving baits. Any suggestions?

It's a really great all around stick. It is one of my go-to's for spinnerbaits. I have also thrown chatterbaits, lipless cranks, whopper ploppers, etc. and it has never disappointed.

If moving means crankbaits, I don't think the 843 is the way to go. reelex provides ideas in the loomis line. If you mean spinnerbait, buzzbait and chatterbait then the 843 is good.

It cast very accurately....has adequate power and can really feel the blade working.....not sure if there are better rods for the application but I really like it.....

Guy who suggested it was in thread below on chatterbait rods....dchwildcats maybe?

I use these rods for moving baits, you can feel a tick of grass with a spinner bait or square bill etc, easy to walk a square bill or chatter bait thru a bunch of wood etc..

I've not done this often but for a 3/8oz chatter the 893 will work great. The xfast quality is somehow offset but tip that is easy to bend. I think the rod too long for pinpoint casts to laydowns and dock pilings I might normally cast too

has anyone ever used a nrx 873 for these applications? ie. moving single leg hook baits? I am thinking that the 873 which has closer to a mbr action than an 893 might work well especially for a swimbait. what do you all think?

To me the tip is too soft mushy feeling for how I fish a swimbait. I use a under belly weight and drag them very slowly with bottom contact. I have tried all my nrx doing this and the 894 895 work but are too darn heavy to hold all day so I use a 79.99 lews for this and it works fantastic.

I fish a lot of farm ponds in the Summer and will often just grab one rod to take with me. I really like the GLX 844 for an all around rod.
It throws spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, 3-5 inch swimbaits, swim jigs, frogs and if it's tough it's got a nice soft tip to throw senkos as well.

I throw smaller swimbaits on my 894 frequently. The 873 is very similar. 2 inches and maybe .2 power less. Typical setup is a 1/4oz weight, 5/0 hook and 5 inch paddle tail. GLX 844 works great as well if shorter is better.
