Rod recommendations for Keitech 5.8" swim baits

Been throwing this on an ALX Toadface. It's a Keitech 5.8" with a 1/2 oz underspin head. Total weight about 1.4 oz. Mostly for open water stripers and deep summer bass. It might be a bit too much for that rod. I can get a 100 foot cast or so but I would really like to bomb it out there.

Looking for something in the 200 - 300 dollar range. ALX, Gloomis IMX, Megabass Orochi, maybe Shimano Expride A. Was kinda thinking about an ALX Expert Ken Parker Swim Bait rod but I'm open for other ideas.

I throw a 4.8" Keitech with a 3/8-1/2oz flashy swimmer on my Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS 7'4 Ish Monroe Frog rod. I have no doubt it could handle the 5.8" too. It has an awesome tip for launching baits, and some serious backbone for driving heavy gauge hooks in their face.

That Tatula Elite 7'9" AGS Long Cast is an awesome rod for that size swim bait set up indeed. The 74 is fine too, but I like the 79 length better for this application.

Powell Endurance 765 SBR 3/8-3oz Very multi purpose IMO
    Irod Genesis 2 783SB Jr Swim 1-4oz

Both about $150 so you can buy both

I’d use the ALX Dragger. You already have the ALX feel. I’d step up to a heavier rod or have Alex build me a rod

Thanks for the suggestions so far. That Tatula rod is one I hadn’t considered. Those AGS guides look interesting. Not sure I would like the silver color but I guess one gets use to that.

If I wanted the option of casting a spoon up to 2 or 3 ounces I guess that would change my options. Maybe I need two rods. I can’t see me getting into huge swim baits and umbrella rigs aren’t my kinda thing either

I'd look at the ALX ZOLO Brawler. It will flat bomb that rig. I like the way it loads up also.

How would it compare to the expert series rod

The EXPERT Series has been discontinued, so any stock left is at TW. The BP Swimbait had a little more backend power than the Brawler - which boosted it up to that heavier weight range. Overall we found our customers still preferred the Brawler over the EXPERT at the end of the day. Similar type of action, little bit shorter handle on the Brawler - mainly due to the overall rod being shorter.

End of the day - they compare very favorably.
