    Oxygen Sensor

How can you tell if the oxygen sensor is not working properly?
Seems like fuel economy has fallen off. Can they be removed and cleaned there are no code or faults.

In almost every case, a faulty Oxygen sensor will result in a Fault Code.

There will be a notable decrease in fuel economy during the WARMER months, as the engine becomes less efficient in the lighter/warmer air (as compared to the cooler, more dense air of the spring, fall and winter).

The engine's PCM is equipped with ASC (Advanced Speed Control) Programming which is active most of the time you are on-plane (except for Wide Open Throttle).

Good observation- but the solution is quite likely "cooler weather".

Not much for me to compare that to so far, if you're going to brush it off be VERY careful, and don't use any harsh solvents.

How many hours you have on your engine now?

65 hours cleaned it with gas & toothbrush and sprayed it off with brake cleaner to flush it out. Will see if there are any changes or issues after that!

Gas and brake clean was probably not a good idea.

Phil let us know if your cleaning made any difference. That's more crud on it than one would expect after only 65 hours but as Don said nothing to compare it to.

Ran it after cleaning yesterday evening. No fault codes started right up. Seems to idle smoother runs strong.
I can't say it improved fuel economy. Engine temp is 135 at warmed up idle and 138 to 140 cruise to WOT on vessel view.
Must go with Dons theory warm weather effects. Unless there is something else underlying that can been seen when hooked up to the computer!
If anything I have a clean O2 sensor now!

No marketable difference after cleaning? Maybe your fuel mileage will increase? Interesting...

Motor was checked by dealer today on computer no faults all parameters are fine and shift actuator was replaced!
Motor is just running under summer conditions.
